FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is one of the most efficient ways to send large files to a commercial printer.
When
you send an art file via e-mail as an attachment, you are
limited in several ways. First
Your provider of internet
services (IP) will prevent you from sending large files due
to the fact these large files clog up their servers and prevent
them from handling their other mail traffic. Some providers
will not even allow files as small as 1 megabyte to be sent.
Furthermore, files go from your computer, to their server,
then you are bounced all over the world wide web through various
other servers, phones lines and even different countries before
it reaches it's final destination. This process can take hours
even
days.
FTP
is the way around this problem. When you connect to our FTP
site, it is as if our servers are directly connected to your
computer. You are not limited in the size file that can be
transferred. Clients that access our FTP site can transfer
up to 10 Gigabytes to our server at 1 time (provided they
have a fast connection). It is also real time. When the file
is done sending, it is on our server, it is safe, it only
transfers from your computer to ours and nobody else has touched
it.
