Here at AV Graphics, we utilize an extensive prepress workflow to ensure printed projects meet our high quality standards. Before any job runs on press, it first goes through our prepress department for preparation and proofing.

On Friday April 3rd AV Graphics received it’s first PIASC Print Excellence Award for the “Binders” category. The PIASC is the local chapter of the national Printing Industry of America organization.

AV Graphics recently acquired a Graphtec FC2250 flatbed cutter for prototype packaging samples and short run die cutting projects. This machine will help increase turnaround from concept to completion while ensuring proper diel ines before each job is approved.

AV Graphics is excited to announce the arrival of a Heidelberg Windmill. This machine is a great addition to our other die cutting machines. It’s primary use will be die cutting but it will also allow us to letter press print and offer other unique finishing techniques.

One of the most standard types of binding is Saddle Stitching. This method is typically used for multi page booklets from 4 to 64 pages. Signatures are folded in half, gathered then stapled in two locations along the spine of the book.

AV Graphics recently received it’s 25th year Printing Industry Association of Southern California (PIASC) membership award. Over the past 25 years AV Graphics has been involved with the PIASC for various aspects in support of its business.

An Accordion Fold is best used for text and information-heavy designs. It can have 3 or more folds. Pictured below is a four panel accordion fold. A 3 fold accordion fold is also referred to as a Z-fold.

Perfect Binding is commonly used for soft cover books. For this binding method the cover and inside pages are glued together with a strong, flexible glue. The cover wraps around the inside pages so it allows for printing on the spine.
